EMDR BASIC TRAINING REFRESHER

OVERVIEW

This EMDR Basic Protocol Refresher provides a concise yet comprehensive review of the eight-phase EMDR protocol, reinforcing key concepts such as case conceptualization, target sequencing, desensitization, and reprocessing. The refresher aims to enhance clinicians’ confidence in applying EMDR effectively, addressing

common challenges, optimizing bilateral stimulation techniques, and ensuring adherence to standard protocol while maintaining clinical flexibility. Additionally, this

training will explore recent updates, adaptations for specific populations, and strategies to manage blocked processing. By revisiting foundational principles and practical applications, this refresher supports EMDR practitioners in delivering high-quality, trauma-informed care.


Intended Audience – Psychologists, Counselors, and Social Workers already trained in EMDR

Skill level – Advanced due to the need for a previous EMDR training

Morning: What is EMDR? (Explaining EMDR to Clients, Three Prong Approach, Potential Targets)

Late Morning: Overview and Application of Phase 1&2

Early Afternoon: Overview and Application of Phase 3&8, Future Template, EMD and EMDr

Late Afternoon: Cognitive Interweaves and Blocking Beliefs

About Liz modugno

Qualifications

Liz Modugno is a Licensed Clinical Social Worker (LCSW) and Licensed Alcohol and Drug Counselor (LADC) that has worked in the addiction and trauma field since 2010.  She is a Certified EMDR therapist, an EMDRIA Approved Consultant, and an EMDR Institute Approved EMDR facilitator.  

Approach

Liz has a gentle and welcoming approach. She is eager to work with clients who are struggling with life transitions, mental health and substance abuse disorders, traumatic experiences, grief and loss, and perinatal support. Liz also works well with clinicians who are learning how to apply EMDR to their practices and working with clients.  

Specialties

Liz Modugno specializes in working with addiction populations and is exploring Ego State work and Dissociative Disorders. She volunteers and collaborates with local agencies that work with First Responder, Veterans, and Healthcare professionals impacted by trauma including during the COVID-19 pandemic.
